Matthew David McConaughey, born on November 4, 1969, in Uvalde, Texas, is a multifaceted American actor, producer, author, professor, and philanthropist. Raised in Longview, Texas, he initially pursued a career in law before discovering his passion for film at the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a degree in Radio-Television-Film.

McConaughey's acting career began with television commercials and student films, leading to his breakout role as David Wooderson in Richard Linklater's cult classic Dazed and Confused (1993). He quickly became known for his charismatic performances in romantic comedies such as The Wedding Planner (2001) and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003).

Seeking more diverse roles, McConaughey took a two-year hiatus from acting, during which he considered alternative careers like teaching and music.
